A Family Resemblance

Three ferns, Cinnamon Fern (Osmundastrum cinnamomeum), Royal Fern (Osmunda spectibilis), and Interrupted Fern (Osmunda claytoniana) are all members of the Osmundaceae family.

With the fiddle heads the family resemblance is obvious. Each fiddle head is covered in a woolly covering. The amount of covering varies among species.

Cinnamon Fern has the most woolly covering.

Royal fern has a bit less woolly covering and has brown/beige highlights.
