Spinulose Wood Fern

Spinulose wood fern, Dryopteris carthusiana, is found in many places in the Eastern and Central United States. It is a common fern.

D. carthusiana is very similar to Evergreen Wood Fern, D. intermedia.

D. carthusiana is not an evergreen fern, but it does stay green well after the first frost.
