New York Fern

New York fern, Amauropelta noveboracensis, has had many recent Latin names.

Parathelypteris noveboracensis and historically Thelypteris noveboracensis.

A. noveboracensis is a small fern. The pinna get smaller and smaller as they almost touch the ground. It barely has a stipe.

It grows in clumps and can be very aggresive. The entire forest under-story can be covered with New York fern crowding out all other plants.

The height of the plant is ankle to knee high. It grows in clumps. The pinna get smaller and smaller all the way to the ground. Very little stipe in the New York fern.
