Evergreen Woodfern
Evergreen wood fern, Dryopteris intermedia, is found in many places in the Eastern and Central United States. It is a common fern.

D. intermedia is only found in Eastern United States.

D. intermedia is a thrice-cut fern. It has scales on the stipe as is found on all wood ferns.
D. intermedia is almost identical to D. carthusiana. The only difference is the length of the inner pinnule. D. intermedia has shorter pinnules. D. carthusiana has longer pinnules.

The sporangia are found in the pinnules in parallel rows.
